Allsehend (Observer Witch)

This piece is one of my favourites that I’ve made. The subject, Allsehend, a Witch, is based off the Witches in the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Witches are born when a Magical Girl succumbs to despair, and so each Witch is unique and full of symbolism, depending on factors such as the consequences of the Magical Girl’s wish, where she transformed into a Witch, or overarching character themes. (For example, Sayaka’s “The Little Mermaid” theme.)

Inspired by so much symbolism and thought going into each Witch, I decided to make my own Witch, somewhat based on myself. The humanoid vessel in front is still part of the Witch, even if they seem to be another entity.

I have a painting made in my school’s art class of this Witch, but I left out the humanoid vessel, so one could see the full design of the Witch. Their skirt is made of mirrors, and so the separate painting has cut up mirrors glued onto the canvas, and somewhat realistic googly eyes glued onto some of the eyes.

Allsehend means “all seeing” in German.
